Barcelona youngster’s contract renewal in advanced stages, new deal to run until 2027

A recent report from Diario SPORT has offered an update on Barcelona’s quest to renew the contracts of existing stars.

One of the players Barça are likely to extend is Alejandro Balde. The youngster has emerged as one of the rising stars in La Liga this term, proving his worth in Xavi’s team by showing exceptional skill, technique and speed.

Balde, in fact, has become Barcelona’s number-one option in the left-back position, leaving the likes of Jordi Alba and Marcos Alonso trailing in the pecking order.

Balde has featured in 11 competitive matches this season, racking up three assists. His presence in the side has indeed been crucial to the team, especially in a season where veteran star Alba has underperformed.

In light of his breakthrough, Barcelona want to extend the contract of Balde, which expires in 2024. The club have made good progress in the negotiations and it is apparent that the player wants to continue at Barça, under the leadership of Xavi.

The report suggests that the talks are in advanced stages and Barcelona are poised to reach an agreement with Balde’s representative over a new deal that could see the player remain at Camp Nou till 2027. However, the contract will be made official in December or January.

This is because Barcelona wish to continue paying Balde’s current salary and keep salary space to bring in other individuals in the January transfer window. And with the player open to the idea of continuing at Camp Nou, the announcement could be delayed.

Nevertheless, Balde’s agreement could go a long way in helping Barcelona secure the core of their future squad. It should also give them an insurance, especially with Alba likely to depart after the end of the season.
