Ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper makes controversial claims about Messi and Guardiola’s Barcelona

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has claimed that Lionel Messi and Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona team were very ‘provocative’ and said terrible things to their opponents on the pitch.

Dudek, who spent four years at Real Madrid between 2007 and 2011, played only 12 times for the club as he was the understudy to Iker Casillas.

The former Liverpool and Real Madrid goalkeeper recently released his autobiography in which he discussed his old teammates and rivals, including Guardiola’s Barcelona side.

The Blaugrana enjoyed unrivalled success during the time that Dudek was at Real Madrid, with the likes of Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol and Sergio Busquets being at the top of their games.

And Dudek has now made wild claims that Messi and Guardiola were very provocative and targeted opponents. As quoted by MARCA, he said:

“Messi was very provocative, as were Barcelona and their manager Pep Guardiola. They were always ready to annoy you and many times they managed it perfectly.

“I have seen and listened to Messi saying very rude things to Pepe and [Sergio] Ramos that you can’t even think about. Imagine what can come out of the mouth of a person who seems so calm and nice.”

The rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid has always been very fierce and tempers flaring during El Clasico encounters is not something new.

The two teams will resume their rivalry in the coming weekend as Real Madrid host Barcelona in the first Clasico of the 2022/23 season, with the top spot in the La Liga table on the line.

Barça are currently ahead of the reigning champions owing to their superior goal difference. Both teams have not lost a single game in La Liga so far and Xavi & co. will be aiming to hand Carlo Ancelotti’s side their first defeat of the campaign.
