Five key stats from Osasuna 1-2 Barcelona

Barcelona consolidated their grip at the top of the La Liga table with a hard-fought comeback victory over CA Osasuna at El Sadar on Tuesday night.

Having been pegged back by David Garcia’s goal and then having to play with ten men from the 30th minute due to Robert Lewandowski’s sending-off, Barça mounted a strong fightback in the second period.

Pedri pulled one goal back just three minutes after the restart before Raphinha won it for the Blaugrana with five minutes of normal time left to be played.

The win means that Barcelona have now collected 37 points out of a possible 42 this season. It is their best start to a La Liga campaign since 2013/14.

Pedri was on target for Barça to start the comeback in the second half. The 19-year-old has now scored three goals in La Liga 2022/23 – no teenager has scored more in Europe’s top five leagues among all midfielders (Jude Bellingham, also three).

Raphinha came on as a substitute in the second half and scored the match-winner for Barcelona. It was the eighth La Liga goal scored by players coming off the bench for Barça this season – the highest of any team in Europe’s top five leagues.

Lewandowski was sent off in the first half, a decision which has not gone down too well within the Barça camp. It means that the Polish striker has received one red card in 14 games for Barcelona in La Liga, as many as in his 384 Bundesliga appearances in total.

The match will also be a memorable one for young Chadi Riad who made his first-team debut for Barça when he came on for Pedri late in the game. In the process, the defender became the 674th player to feature for Barcelona in La Liga history.
