Wizkid called out for ‘having fun’ in Ghana during Nigeria’s election
Nigerians have called out Afrobeats singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun also known as Wizkid, for not participating in the nation’s general elections.
He revealed that the ”Ojulegba” crooner attended a burial ceremony in Ghana while Nigeria’s presidential and national assembly elections were holding.
A man shared a video of Wizkid playing music at the funeral ceremony of a yet-to-be known person in Ghana.
Fans dragged him for not lending his voice or voting in an election that many described as the must crucial in Nigeria’s electoral history.
A tweep wrote; Can y’all imagine. Wizkid in Ghana today enjoying himself while voting is going on in his country HOME Nigeria. Nigeria made him GREAT why don’t you give back to the society with 1percent of your vote???? So little minded individual (s). Mtcheeew”
Meanwhile, Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu better known as Burna Boy issued warning to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do the right thing.
He called on the electoral body to respect the decision of the electorates who trooped out enmasse on February 25 for the presidential and National Assembly elections.
Burna Boy urged INEC to not allow itself to be used as a tool for the manipulation or rigging of the 2023 election.
He gave the note of warning via his social media page after being called out by Nigerians who expected him and his colleagues to lend their voice to the demand for free and fair elections.
Burna said; “Let Nigeria decide o! @inecnigeria. No try any result magic”.
The votes cast across the 35 states and Federal Capital Territory are still being collated at state levels. For the polling units that violence marred voting, the INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu said there will be rerun.
