The international break did not end well for most clubs as key players picked up injuries through and after the fortnight. Barcelona were among the worst impacted, as Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong were ruled out of action.

Real Madrid got a couple of blows of their own as well. While Luka Modric was the only Los Blancos player to have picked up a knock during the break, Thibaut Courtois was diagnosed with sciatica.

The Belgian has, thereon, missed every game after the international break, with Andriy Lunin filling in with the gloves.

Initially, it was believed that Courtois would make it back in time to face Barcelona, but according to a fresh report published by Miguel Angel Diaz, the goalkeeper is still a doubt for El Clasico.

There have been no reports about the revolution of his injury, and the journalist claims that the final decision will likely be taken during the week ahead of the clash.

Madrid’s defence has been quite leaky this season; they have conceded seven goals in eight games in the league. Their only clean sheet so far this season came yesternight as they registered a 0-1 win against Getafe.
