Injury update: Barcelona trio expected to be fit for Real Madrid clash next weekend

Amidst the optimism around Barcelona’s fine start to the 2022/2023 season, the international break has been a bearer of bad news for culers.

With several of the side’s most key players succumbing to injuries, this does not bode well for Xavi, considering his team are set to play another seven matches in the month of October.

As an early La Liga title decider in terms of El Clasico is set to kick off next weekend, there has been some positive injury news involving the current league leaders.

According to an update provided by journalist Javi Miguel Club, Frenkie de Jong has been deemed fit for Barcelona’s upcoming clash against Celta Vigo. In addition, the likes of Jules Kounde and Franck Kessie are set to receive a green light regarding their fitness ahead of the titanic clash against Real Madrid.

During the international break, de Jong had to rush back from the Dutch camp after picking up an untimely muscle strain.

As for Kounde, he was substituted in a 1-1 draw against Austria after his hamstring gave out in a Nations League encounter.

In Kessie’s case, he came on as a late substitute in the latest 1-0 loss to Inter Milan, but was discovered to have succumbed to a thigh injury.

With three key players set to be fit in time to face Carlo Ancelotti’s side, this is only good news from a Barça perspective.

Javi Miguel Club has also revealed that Memphis Depay still needs a minimum of two weeks to return to full fitness from his thigh injury.

However, the Dutch international has started doing outdoor training in a bid to be available for his side during an unrelenting fixture pile-up.
