Barcelona considering Bosman move for Premier League attacker as Depay replacement
With Memphis Depay likely to leave Barcelona either in January or at the end of the season, there will be a vacancy created in the attacking unit at Spotify Camp Nou.
And, according to SPORT, Barcelona are considering the possibility of making a move for Crystal Palace and Ivory Coast winger Wilfried Zaha as a possible replacement for the Netherlands international.
The 29-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Crystal Palace and is ready to take the next step in his career, having spent a large part of it at Selhurst Park. And a move to Spain is said to be something that he looks at favourably.
This has seemingly alerted Barcelona, who are now seriously contemplating a move to land Zaha on a Bosman deal at the end of the season.
The Catalans have a loaded attacking department already, thanks to the summer recruitment of Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski coupled with the renewal of Ousmane Dembele.
However, with Depay’s exit looking imminent, there will be a vacant spot that someone like Zaha could fill in. The 29-year-old has been Crystal Palace’s best performer for years now.
The former Manchester United ace can play anywhere across the frontline and can find the back of the net regularly as well. Indeed, Zaha netted 15 goals across all competitions last season for Palace and has already netted six times in 12 matches this season.
Barcelona are not looking at attacking reinforcements as a priority, but see Zaha as a market opportunity that could be worth capitalising on. It is claimed that the La Liga behemoths had previously tracked the Ivorian but his transfer fee had discouraged them from a move.
The stance from the Catalan club is clear though, they will not be bidding for the Ivorian and will wait until the summer to sign him for free if there is a possibility.
